I'm feeling nostalgic for all the webtoons I abandoned after 9th grade

It’s spooky season so here are some webtoon recs

apologies in advance for the low quality images some of them are locked behind paywalls now (on the kr app the translated ones should be fine) and I was too lazy to go through all the chapters for the good panels

Ghost Teller- I’m so biased but this is one of my favorite webtoons. Summary in one line: ghosts go to therapy

Real summary: various ghosts (s1 is eastern ghosts, s2 is western ghosts) tell “human stories” (like how we talk abt ghost stories lol). the art is amazing, and all the episodes are all pretty solid. even if some stories are predictable you still feel for the characters (although personally I prefer s1 over s2)

Sweet Home- some of you might have seen it on Netflix but whether you watched it or not I highly recommend the webtoon (I have issues with the adaptation but that’s another story)

basically people suddenly start turning into monsters and the survivors of this apartment try to survive together. except the mc shows signs of becoming one of those monsters which creates unrest amongst the survivors. not going to get too into the monster part bc spoilers but the webtoon explores what people would do for survival so you get to see scummy ppl, kind ppl, all trapped together and try to survive 👍

the art style captures the story’s spooky/horror vibe so well. I didn’t include Bastard on the list (the previous webtoon the same author and artist worked on) bc it’s more of a psychological horror/thriller than creature? horror but if it sounds interesting or you liked sweet home I highly highly recommend Bastard as well.

+) There’s also a prequel called Shotgun Boy that’s more about the creatures’ origins

Surviving Romance- despite the title there’s little to no romance although it can probably be read as sapphic if you’d like. if you read makeup remover it’s by the same author. I’ve also seen some people compare this to orv but I can’t speak for that since I haven’t finished orv… haha

one line summary: mc gets isekai’d into a romance novel except it suddenly turns into a zombie apocalypse

long summary: mc is the mc of a romance novel but on the day she’s supposed to receive a confession from the male lead, there’s a zombie outbreak. she already read the novel so she knows the story and characters, but literally everybody that’s not the love interests don’t like her bc that’s how the mc of the novel was written. she finds out that the day resets when she dies but she doesn’t really care until someone she doesn’t know the face of saves her and she decides to find that person and make sure they make it out alive

even if you don’t like isekais (I personally don’t) it’s worth a try. it plays around the isekai premise well and the fourth wall moments were just *chef’s kiss* the impact of those moments especially when the webtoon was still ongoing was 🤌

the cast is primarily female characters, and despite the cast being on the slightly larger side, each of them are distinct from one another and the characters designs are very cute and colorful. overall it has an unique premise that it delivers pretty well on

Night of Shadows- kinda underrated tbh. mc has prophetic dreams, creatures from her dreams start appearing irl, and she’s the only one that knows how to deal with them.

mc is great. she’s strong, smart, and knows when not to give a fuck. the other three characters of the main cast are also pretty strongly established, and the plot and pacing are pretty good. this is the only one on the list that’s still ongoing (currently on hiatus after s1)

Amity Park was a roller coaster, but after eliminating the GIW, talking to the Fentons, and getting some sort of alliance with the ghosts, Danny felt like he didn't have much else to do. He took Ellie's advice to travel a bit, but tried to make it a little more exciting.

Although the money he had been given could last forever (and longer with Vlad's card in his pocket), he wanted to earn his own money. So he made his trip a fun job, turning part of his vehicle into a trailer. Thus was born his career as a medium and fortune teller, traveling around the world, listening to the dead, advising people, etc.

Technically, thanks to Clockwork Danny could see the future, but he doesn't need it, or at least not always. And talking to the dead was practically his day-to-day, so he thought he had chosen well.

During one of his trips, when he passed through Gotham he found a zombie (which turned out to be a halfa!), the poor thing was lost, and wandering, so he helped him and did the most sensible thing possible: he offered him a job. Jason, who hadn't been back for a long time and his memories were scrambled, decided that he needed a vacation anyway, for his own sanity (not seeing the Joker's face was a bonus) and accepted the offer. Of course, he covered his face in case someone recognized him as the son of a millionaire, Danny approved.

Both traveled around the world, offering their services and bothering a certain Constantine who complained every time they had the same client (Danny replied that it really wasn't his fault, but the British man was still upset). A year later they returned to Gotham.

The Batfam assumed that Danny's business was a scam. But Bruce was desperate, he wanted to talk with Jason, to hear about him, even if it was a scam, so he visited them. When Danny asked who he wanted to contact, Bruce replied "Jason Todd."

Danny, who knew full well the identity of his employee, raised an eyebrow and glanced surreptitiously at his assistant, who was avoiding his gaze. He sighed before continuing his 'work', glancing at Jay from time to time.

A few days later, Dick Grayson showed up with the same request, and Danny made sure to kick Jason as soon as he left.

I just read an au where a minute detail is that ghost vapes because he kept craving a i cigarette on long overwatch missions and I think that’s really funny. Imagine your 6’4 lieutenant who could crush your skull saying he needs a smoke and then hitting a iced blue razz elfbar. And Gaz most definitely got his ass hooked too.

The Top Gun/ Psychic/ Ghost Whisperer AU that NOBODY asked for!

Okay so is this a strange concept? Yes. But do I also think a Nick Bradshaw ghost giving dad jokes and obnoxious faces to Hangman while also trying to save all the Daggers lives and fix all their messed up relationships could work? Also yes! So here we are!

After his tragic death, Nick ‘Goose’ Bradshaw assumed that he would spend all the rest of his days in heaven watching those he cared about back on Earth. There was his wife Carole (who ended up joining him far too soon), his son Bradley and even his best friend Pete, amongst his other pilot friends who he liked to check in on. Goose couldn’t travel back to earth to see them, but he was able to peek through the clouds from time to time to see how life was treating them all.

Then one day Nick is given new orders and new abilities. Instead of being stuck watching from heaven, he’s allowed back down, given the task of getting the two people he loves most still in the land of the living to reconcile before a suicide mission. Goose is even shown the future, seeing his son and best friend killed if they don’t learn to work together and get past the history that has destroyed their relationship over the past decade and a half.

Nick is determined to fix this, refusing to allow another member of his family to die young and tragic and in a Navy plane. He prepares to head down but not before he is given the last important information, he won’t be able to communicate with either one of his loved ones. The only person who will be able to see or hear him is his son’s enemy and rival- Jake ‘Hangman’ Seresin. Goose has watched enough of Bradley’s life to know the relationship between Rooster and Hangman is far more complicated than it appears but even he is unsure how much the blonde will be willing or accepting to help.

For a mission requiring a lot of miracles, Nick Bradshaw will hope for a few more: that he can change the future and save his son and best friend and that maybe in the process he can mend some old hurts as well. After all, all these guys really need is some divine intervention. 😇

Modern au scarian with the cactus ring being a bit is SO FUNNY there are so many ways this could go.... you've got the 3rd life is a play concept, you could have it be a spur of the moment joke with some cactus gummies, it could be a meme in a socmed au, maybe they just went on a hike and grian accidentally elbowed scar into a cactus and now nobody will let either of them live it down. The possibilities are endless im truly obsessed with this

Okay hear me out. I have this HUGE crush on Ghost (COD) and I was thinking in a prompt rn.😭😭

You and the rest of the Daggers were invited to a Halloween costume party but no one knew how the others would dress so you just choose whatever you like the most (personally Jennifer from Jennifer’s Body). As you arrive with Halo and Phoenix you’re able to recognize a few of your friends but decide to just go grab a drink first and just as you enter the kitchen you see the hottest Ghost costume you’ve ever seen. He was tall and big just like the character so you were immediately drooling over him and couldn’t keep your eyes off of him. But then you decide to just go back to your friends and enjoy your night with them. What you didn’t know was that “Ghost” followed you, and when you were going to question him why he was following you, you heard his voice for the first time and were shocked that the man you were lusting after was the one and only Bradley Bradshaw.

I’ve had this prompt stuck inside of my head for days now so lmk if you’d like me to write something about it😉
